Herbicides (Weed & Moss Control)

With any herbicide, please make sure you read and follow all the directions on the label, keep it away from animals and children, check to make sure your municipality allows its use, and ask staff if you have questions about how to use it or require advice on integrated pest management.

Weed Control Products

Killex

Killex Active Ingredient: 2,4-D, Mecoprop-P, Dicamba

Controls: Dandelions, Plantains, Chickweed, Clover, Bedstraw, Black Medick, English Daisy, Curled Dock, Heal-All, Ground Ivy, Knotweed, Ragweed, Shepherd's-purse plus over 35 lawn weeds. Does not harm the lawn.

Caution: Avoid spraying flowers, shrubs, vegetables and fruit crops.

Concentrate Directions: Mix 6 mL per litre of water to treat 5 square metres (50 square feet). Apply when weeds are young and actively growing. 1L bottle covers 800 square metres (8000 square feet)

Hose-End Ready-to-Spray Directions: Attach Hose - connect sprayer to garden hose and turn back sprayer. Open System - to spray, point nozzle where you want to spray, bend back tab, turn knob to 'On' position. Turn and Spray - spray evenly over lawn area.

Roundup

Roundup Active Ingredient: Glyphosate

Controls: A non-selective vegetation control herbicide, controls most annual and perennial grasses, including lawn grasses, broadleaf weeds and brush (i.e. virtually anything that is green and growing) Undesirable vegetation control (i.e. hard to- mow areas, around buildings). Apply to the following: Lawn trimming/edging, patio weed control, vacant lots, storage & recreational areas, driveways. Around Trees/Shrubs/Ornamentals Lawn/Garden renovation Brush control.

Caution: Avoid spray contact on desirable plants as any plant contacted may be killed. Do not spray in windy conditions. Do not spray to the point of run-off. Rain or watering two hours after application will not wash away effectiveness. However, heavy rainfall immediately after application may wash the chemical off the foliage and repeat treatment may be required. Do not apply if rainfall is forecast for the time of application.

Regular Concentrate Directions: Mix 100mL of product in 2L of clean water (1 part Roundup, 20 parts water). Makes 20L of end use product.

Super-Concentrate Directions: Mix 50mL of product in 2.5L of clean water (1 part Roundup, 20 parts clean water) Makes 51L of end use product.

ByeBye Weed

ByeBye Weed Active Ingredient: Glyphosate

Controls: Lawn grasses, quackgrass, chickweed, ragweed, knotweed, poison ivy, Canada thistle, milkweed, bindweed, poplar, alder, maple, raspberry. It is absorbed by the leaves and moves throughout the stem and roots to control the entire plant. Mature perennial weeds should be treated after seed heads, flowers or fruit appear. All plants are most easily controlled in the young, actively growing, seeding stage.

Caution: Avoid spray contact with desirable plants as any plant contacted may be killed. Do not spray in windy conditions. Do not spray to the point of run-off. Heavy rainfall immediately after application may wash the chemical off the foliage and repeat treatment may be required. Do not apply if rainfall is forecast for the time of application.

Concentrate Directions: Mix 40mL of product in 2 L of clean water (1 part ByeBye Weed to 20 parts clean water)

Scotts Weed B Gon Max

Active Ingredient: Iron (Fe)

Controls: Controls the following lawn weeds: dandelion, English daisy, false dandelion, white clover, black medic, bull thistle, Canada thistle, common chickweed, creeping buttercup, slender speedwell, narrow-leaved plantain, broad-leaved plantain (suppression only), dove's foot geranium, wild geranium, lawn burweed, moss and algae.

Caution: Avoid spraying desirable plants. Any desirable plants or structures accidentally contacted should be rinsed immediately with water.

Concentrate Directions: Mix 125 mL of Scotts® Weed B Gon® Max Weed Control Concentrate for Lawns with 1 L water.
